will Paul Pierce surpass the great Larry Bird in points scored
currently he has 17,129
larry bird has 21,791
pierce has scored over 1,000 points every year and last year scored 400 points more than he did the previous year if pierce can stay healthy for 4 more years i dont see why paul pierce cant achieve this and absolutly cement his legacy in boston!

Paul Pierce vs Larry BirdPierce is great. He will pass Larry and that is quite the accolade to achieve. However, as much as Pierce is the engine to the Celtics offense, Larry was the engine to the whole team. Larry was like Paul and KG rolled into one. He was not as talented as either, but through sheer will he meant what both do to the Celtics now. Really, why compare. Celebrate Paul for who he is and what he has done and continue to revel in Larry's greatness.

Paul Pierce vs Larry BirdI think that Paul Pierce has already cemented his legacy with the Boston Celtics. I also think that theres no question that he will pass Larry Bird unless he gets injured of course. Larry Bird will always be the head man in boston unless someone really special comes along. |

Paul Pierce vs Larry BirdI would have to give it to Paul, stats or no stats. He has more ways to score than Bird did and played on by far worse teams, beating double teams like he was a knife with legs and ball handling skills. But an arguement could be made, on the first BirdMan that he was more like a KG type of player when it came to changing the way your team plays with intense motivation...thats what I see from KG when he's on the court with Boston. That being said, I'd rather have Paul on my team. ( if I had Bird to, he'd start at PF ) Sorry I typed this on your other blog, thinking I was posting on this one, but here it is. |

Paul Pierce vs Larry BirdThat's a no brainer. Paul Pierce is going to pass him without a doubt. He has been taking the role of being the go to guy again without Kevin Garnett. He's also racking up a lot of points and rebounds. I'm not saying that Larry Bird is a bad player but he's going to get his spot taken away because of the stellar play of Paul Peirce. Paul Pierce vs Larry BirdPierce may surpass Bird in points but not surpass Larrys legacy. Him and Magic had the greatest contributions to the NBA. When you think celtics you think of either Russel or Bird. Pierce does not even come to mind. Although he is a great player for boston his legacy will never be as good as Larry the Legend |

Paul Pierce vs Larry BirdPoints? Oh yeah. Overall though? Until someone else blows my mind the Celtics will always run Bill Russell #1, Bird #2, and an honorable mention for Red who never played but made the Celts what they are. All the other greats (and there are almost too many to name) have to come after these three in my mind.

Paul Pierce vs Larry BirdThe Truth is a great Celtic, many forget the stabbing incident a few years ago. He has been truly great. A very unselfish player. Not as good as Larry Legend but a true Celtics great.
